Designer, Richard Mauriohooho

Richard graduated from the Auckland School of Architecture in 1996, and returned to Hamilton to be with family and commence his architecture career.  Richard's Croatian and Maori ancestry provides a wealth of resources from which he draws many conceptual design ideas.  This has helped shape some of his work.

Richard has practised with Antanas Procuta Architects for almost six years undertaking a wide variety of projects, ranging from large scale design competitions to houses and residential renovations.  Antanas Procuta Architects undertakes work from Auckland to the Central Plateau, from the Coromandel to the West Coast.  Richard is currently involved with another beach house project at Waiheke Island.

"It is an office policy that we treat every project as a potential ‘Award Winner' and therefore approach it with care and enthusiasm”, he says.  “We ensure that our clients are well informed about costs and timeframes throughout the whole process from the early design stages through to construction”.

“A good understanding of the client requirements, good communication with the client and contractor, and a contractor who has great attention to detail are important in the success of any project.  We were fortunate to have had the collaboration of all the above on the Lally project from its inception to completion”.

“The clients were very enthusiastic, energetic and willing to have a building that was unique.  This project owed much of its success to the attitude of the clients who were willing to push the design aspect and explore an innovative design option.”
