Painting Linea

Linea has a 25 Year Product Warranty and an extended paint warranty is offered on Dulux, Resene and Wattyl coatings.

Preparing for painting

The Linea weatherboards and trim must be dry before commencing painting.

  • Ensure all cut ends and edges are site-primed before weatherboard installation. Remove all dust and loose material before priming.
  • Punch and fill all exposed nails a maximum of 2mm below the surface. Fill with CRC Builders Fill or equivalent and sand smooth ready for priming. Prime around filled area with primer and allow to dry a minimum of 4 hours before applying finishing coats.
  • Ensure any excess polyurethane sealant at mitre corners, scribed corners or T&G joints is cleaned off the surface ready for painting.
  • Use 60 grit sandpaper to sand down any loose edges or surface deformations in the primer coat. Clean any dirt or other material from the weatherboard surface before final painting.
  • Dark colour paints can be used on Linea weatherboards and trim.

Painting Linea Weatherboards

  • All Linea weatherboards are pre-primed with a factory-applied acrylic primer.
  • A minimum of two site coats of acrylic paint must be applied over the factory-applied primer.
  • Use only 100% acrylic paints. Economy paints are not recommended because generally they are less well bound, less moisture resistant and more prone to mould growth.
In all cases the manufacturer's specifications for the selected paint must be followed.
  • Damp, shady situations, proximity to bush, agricultural paddocks or sea spray environments may induce an extra tendency to mould growth. Use mould inhibiting undercoats and consult the paint manufacturer for maximum mould-resistant paints.
  • Linea classic weatherboards have an unsanded finish suitable for low sheen or semi-gloss or lightly textured semi-gloss or high-gloss paint. Smooth high-gloss paint must be avoided as some surface undulations may be visible in critical light.
  • Before painting, remove any surface dirt, grime or other contaminants and ensure Linea weatherboards are dry. Acrylic paint must not be applied when the air temperature is below 10°C.
  • Linea reeded weatherboard can be painted with low sheen semi-gloss or high-gloss acrylic paints.
  • All Weatherboards must be painted within 3 months of fixing.
