James Hardie & the CodeMark Scheme
James Hardie is thrilled to announce that LineaTM Weatherboard is the first building product in New Zealand to be certified under the new CodeMark scheme.
The scheme is designed to help building consent authorities when making decisions about consent applications in Australia and New Zealand. The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) and New Zealand’s Department of Building and Housing (DBH) manage the scheme in their respective countries.
CodeMark certification means that the product is deemed to comply with the Building Code when installed correctly, and guarantees acceptance by the regulatory bodies.
While a building consent is still required, the Building Consent Authority (BCA) must accept the certified product or method as compliant when used in accordance with the certificate and its instructions. This product acceptance is guaranteed – it’s legislated – so there is a level of assurance that comes with using certified products.
The code will help designers, builders and consumers to quickly and easily identify products that have been proven to perform well when installed correctly, and removes the risk when selecting products to specify.
Linea Weatherboard is durable, low-maintenance, comes with a 15-year paint warranty with Wattyl Paints, can be painted any colour and has a 90-minute fire rating. We’re not sure that you really needed another one, but the CodeMark certification with guaranteed acceptance by the BCA is another fantastic reason to choose to build with Linea Weatherboard.
