At various stages of the building process, council building inspectors will visit the construction site to check that the work has been done to standard and according to the plans lodged with your Building Consent Application. Each inspection must be completed before the next stage of work can begin.
If work is not in accordance with the plans, is not up to scratch, or has not been approved at the right stages, the inspector can order it to be demolished and done again.
If your builder is working on a full contract he will organise the inspectors to come at the appropriate times. If your builder is working on a labour only contract you will need to liase with him to know when the work is ready for inspection.
